I always tell everyone that I grew up in gyms due to the fact that my mom was a fitness instructor, and it's true. If you put a bookworm in a library (any library) they're going to feel at home. That's how I feel when I walk into a gym. I didn't just grow up going to the gym though, I grew into who I am today while being there. Like most young girls, I struggled with body image and fitting in when I was younger. The gym was my reprieve. Fortunately I learned early on what didn't work (running, core, running, core...) and I gained some tough-love guidance from the guys that were always watching me work so hard to little avail,
"Pick up a dumbbell."
And so I did. I went from an avid runner to a then vegan weightlifter, to a now raw powerlifter! From injury rehabilitation and diverse diet limitations, to learning how to properly perform lifts, my personal experience and the evolution of my own fitness has helped me develop a very dynamic and versatile training style.
I have a huge passion for helping others find their way to their own version of livable fitness. Because I get it, fitness sucks sometimes. It sucks to be so sore you dread having to use the bathroom OR being so hungry that food is all you think about. The thing is, if you're struggling to simply get through a diet or workout program, chances are it wasn't designed for you. With your lifestyle, struggles, temptations, or goals in mind. Your wallet maybe, but not you.
That's where I come in. I've been there. What I've designed is a style of training that teaches both of us what your body responds to best after first addressing three key things: what you WANT, what you NEED, and what you WON'T do. Then we figure the rest out together. We're going to find your way to a livable version of fitness, and I'll bet you 10 burpees it ends up including a slice of pizza here and there.
